What can our specialists do for you?
Skin abscesses are a painful build-up of infected fluid commonly symptomatic of a bacterial infection.
The most common form of treatment for an abscess is incision and drainage which is a minor surgical technique that involves using a scalpel to facilitate the infected fluid to be drained. The procedure is conducted under localised anaesthetic to numb the abscess so the patient feels less pain and discomfort. Typically, the site is then packed and dressed and follow up is sometimes required to monitor the healing.
