What can our skin specialists do for you?
At times, a build up of solid wax can occur leading to symptoms including earache, hearing loss, infection and tinnitus. Issues with waxy build-ups are especially common amongst the elderly as earwax naturally depletes in moisture as we age.
Ear irrigation is a simple process of dislodging the solidified mass of wax blocking your ear canal, either by applying pressure with a water pump, or sucking the wax out of the ear using a small electronic device, known as microsuction. In rare cases an aural toilet (a small medical instrument containing a loop at one end) is used to scrape out the wax manually.
Your treatment type will be determined by your GP in face-to-face consultation, who will assess the extent of your build-up and take the appropriate course of action to combat it. Price is per ear.
